SPARK!

Our Supporters & Ground Control

SPARK! is Deans Marsh’s response to an opportunity that came our way in October last year, a new State government Creative Victoria initiative, The Regional Coworking Spaces and Creative Places program, to support new regional creative hubs and breathe new life into creative sites for the benefit of creative practitioners and visitors.

Our local artists saw the opportunity of forming an alliance with our local sports clubs to see how existing buildings and facilities around the Reserve could be made better use of as workshops, studios and exhibition spaces, as great new assets for our community and artists to enjoy.

Surf Coast Shire, our local Primary School, the Deans Marsh Cricket Club and the Community Hall and Recreation Committee all supported the SPARK! project and in February Creative Victoria chose SPARK! as one of 13 projects across Victoria to benefit from this new initiative, and the spark! was ignited!

In March our Festival and Community Cottage worked with SPARK! to stage our first exhibition of local artists. Covid has locked us down for a while but our local Sports and Arts Koalition lives on.

So THANK YOU all for the support you have given to launching SPARK!

SPARK! is presently managed by a start-up management committee:

Genevieve Picot (Chair & Secretary), Sandra Hickford, Cara Johnson, Veronica Phillips, Lynette Clucas, Liz Bashford, and Tom Reid (Treasurer), supported by our start-up Administrative Co-ordinator, Miranda Jarvis. While the Covid lockdown persists, the committee will continue to expand its artist membership to plan the coming SPARK! program.

As our social media and website operations build up our network of Members and Supporters, SPARK! Management Committee has its eyes on a great community celebration to strut SPARK! out into a Covid-safe world.

Exciting!
